About Grief Institute

Grief Doesn't Follow a Timeline.

Grief Institute was founded on a simple belief: everyone is affected by loss. And whether you're living it or helping others through it, you deserve support.

We exist for two communities at once. For the person who just lost someone and doesn't know where to start. And for the clinician who wants to show up for that person with skill, confidence, and genuine understanding.

Why We Exist

Grief is universal, but support for it has long been fragmented. People experiencing loss are often met with well-meaning but generic advice, a handful of stages to move through, and little acknowledgment that grief is as complex and varied as the relationships that shape it. Meanwhile, many clinicians receive only minimal formal training in grief-informed care, despite how often loss surfaces in session. Not only in bereavement work, but in trauma, chronic illness, life transitions, and beyond.

We started Grief Institute to close that gap. We bring together evidence-informed clinical training, practical tools, and accessible resources so that no one—clinician or griever—has to navigate loss without real support.

What We Offer

For clinicians: In-depth continuing education trainings grounded in current grief research, developed with practicing clinicians in mind. Our courses go beyond outdated models of grief to reflect what we now understand about complicated, disenfranchised loss, cultural variation in mourning, and the grounded reality of sitting with a grieving client. Alongside our trainings, we offer free clinical worksheets and session tools designed to be used right away in practice.

For individuals and families: Free worksheets, guides, and resources built for people wherever they are in their grief: in the first devastating days or years later, when grief resurfaces in unexpected ways. We don't offer a formula. We offer tools that meet people with honesty and give them language and structure for something that often feels wordless.

Our Approach

We believe in a few things strongly:

Grief is not a problem to be fixed. It's a natural response to loss, and it looks different for everyone. Our resources reflect that reality rather than forcing grief into a single narrative or timeline.

Good information should be free and accessible. Financial barriers shouldn't stand between someone and the support they need to understand their own grief.

Clinicians deserve real depth, not checkbox training. Our continuing education is built to genuinely expand clinical skill and understanding—not just satisfy a requirement.

Who We Serve

Grief Institute serves therapists, counselors, social workers, and other mental health professionals looking to deepen their grief-informed practice, as well as individuals, families, and caregivers navigating loss of every kind.

Whether you're here to learn, to heal, or both, you're in the right place.

Looking Ahead

Grief Institute is new, but our work is grounded in a long-standing commitment to mental health education and support. We're just getting started—and we're building this with input from the clinicians and grieving individuals we serve. If there's a resource you need that we don't yet offer, we want to hear about it.

Grief changes people. We think support should meet them there.
